The mailman spends his life delivering messages, carrying the words, needs, and emotions of others from one place to another. He serves as a metaphor for those who constantly pour themselves into others, offering support, love, attention, and care, while neglecting their own needs along the way. The letters consuming him symbolize the emotional labour, responsibilities, and expectations he has carried for so long that they have become woven into his identity. As he continues delivering pieces of himself to everyone else, he slowly begins to disappear beneath the weight of what he gives away.
This piece reflects the quiet cost of self-sacrifice and poses a simple but difficult question: How much of yourself can you keep giving away before there’s nothing left to deliver?
