Meet Kane. Set against a fading sunset, Kane stands alone, powerful, imposing, and seemingly untouchable. His mechanical body projects strength and resilience, yet beneath the fractured metal exterior lies a human skeleton, exposing the vulnerability hidden beneath the surface.
The question beside him, “Who are we?”, lies at the heart of the work. Kane serves as a reflection of contemporary society, where people are often encouraged to think, work, and function like machines in pursuit of productivity, efficiency, and success. His robotic shell symbolises the pressures, expectations, and systems that shape our identities, while the exposed skeleton beneath reminds us of the humanity that remains hidden underneath.
As the armour begins to crack, Kane reveals the tension between the roles we perform and the people we truly are. The work invites viewers to reflect on how much of themselves has been shaped by external demands and what remains when those layers are stripped away. Ultimately, We Are Kane asks a collective question about identity, authenticity, and the human condition: Who are we beneath the masks we wear?
